Maria Providencia Ferrer Murdock is the daughter of Jose Ferrer and his wife Rosemary Clooney. The father of Maria Ferrer was an Puerto Rican actor and director of stage, film and television. He gained fame by his performance as Cyrano of Bergerac, in a play of the same name. It was the reason he won the inaugural Tony Award for Best Actor in the Play during 1947. Maria Providencia’s mom, Rosemary is an American actress and singer. She gained notoriety in the early 1950s when she released the hit song “Come On-a My House” that was followed by many other pop songs like “Botch-a-Me”, “Mambo Italiano”, “Tenderly”, “Half as Much”, “Hey There” as well as “This Ole Home”. Also, she had great success as a jazz singer.

Jose first got married to Clooney in June of 1953 at Durant, Oklahoma. They relocated from Oklahoma to Santa Monica, California, in 1954, before moving moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Jose Clooney and Jose Clooney have five children quickly: Miguel, Maria, Gabriel, Monsita, and Rafael. They divorced for the first time in the year 1961.
Maria Providencia Ferrer Murdock’s parents, Jose and Clooney remarried on November 22, 1964 at Los Angeles; however, the marriage fell apart again due to the fact that Ferrer was involved in an affair that would eventually become his second spouse, Stella Magee. Clooney was informed of the affair her and Ferrer divorced in the year 1967.
Following Maria’s divorce, her maternal grandmother, Rosemary joined the presidential campaign of her close acquaintance Robert F. Kennedy and saw the shots as Kennedy was murdered on June 5th the 5th of June, 1967. A month later, she suffered an emotional breakdown on stage at Reno, Nevada where she began shouting insults at the audience. She was admitted to hospital and remained in psychoanalytic therapy for 8 years.
Jose died from colon cancer at Coral Gables, Florida, on the 26th of January in 1992, just only 18 days following his birthday. He was laid to rest in the Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery in Old San Juan in his homeland of Puerto Rico
