She also has worked in the Elmhurst College Mentor Program for students who are interested in journalism. She is also as a member of the executive board for Michael Matters, an organization that was created to help patients fighting brain cancer. She also participates with fundraising in support of A Safe Place, a family violence prevention program located in Lake County.
