William Mapel is the ex-husband of Mare Winningham. His ex-wife, William Mapel Winningham was an American performer and singer-songwriter. She was the recipient of two Primetime Emmy Awards and has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards as well as an Tony Award.
Winningham was divorced four times and married three times. In the 1980s, she briefly tied to actress A Martinez. They both appeared on the show The Young Pioneers. Their marriage in 1981 was just a few months. She was married to the second time to her husband Bill Mapel, the same year. William Mapel was a television technical advisor when he met with his spouse, Winningham.
What happened when the two love birds get together and start their relationship? The couple hasn’t provided any details regarding the circumstances that led to their met and began their relationship. The couple did however, Mapel and Winningham got married in 1982. The couple was married in the most stunning ceremony with the support of their families, friends and their loved ones.
Although their marriage didn’t endure the years but they did have five children. The sons are Riley Mapel (November 7, 1981-August 14 2005), Patrick Mapel (b. 1983) as well as Jack Mapel (b. April 15 1985) and daughter Calla Louise Mapel (b. 1987) and a son Happy Atticus Mapel (b. 13 September 1988).
William Mapel’s wife Winningham was a virgin in the film St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) when she was pregnant with their child. In 1996 Mapel as well as his wife announced that they had decided to call their union an end. The reason for the divorce was not revealed. The couple was married for more than six years.
Riley Mapel’s son William committed suicide
William Mapel’s oldest child Son Riley Mapel, committed suicide on the 14th of August, 2005. Riley Mapel was only 23 years old when he passed away. According to reports that he took his own life within Los Angeles, California. Riley studied acting in the LACC’s Acting Academy at the time when he died. Riley was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.

His ex-wife, William Mapel Winningham later divorced and married actor Jason Trucco after her divorce from Mapel. By the end of 2021 her as well as her long-time friend, and actor Anthony Edwards eloped. They have been in contact for more than 35 years.
Winningham was raised as a Roman Catholic but she converted into Judaism in her 40s. While she was as an Irish Catholic, in 2000 William Mapel’s ex-wife was concerned that her spirituality was lacking. So after receiving the recommendation of a friend at the end of November, 2001, she enrolled to take a class taught by Rabbi Neal Weinberg at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, California.
In March 2003 she changed her religion to Judaism and was a member of two Conservative synagogues: Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles and Temple Knesset Israel in Hollywood, California.
William Mapel’s ex-wife is an acclaimed folk singer and songwriter, with several albums. She was not a part of at the time of her 1980 Emmy Awards ceremony, where she received the excellent-supporting actress prize for her performance in Amber Waves (1980) due to an actor’s strike, which slowed down the ceremony. The ceremony did take place after she was awarded an additional Emmy for the same award, for George Wallace (1997).
