In his later years, Tork was thought to be suffering from Asperger syndrome.
Her father died of cancer.
3 March 2009 Erica’s father posted on his site that he was diagnosed with adenoid-cystic carcinoma which is a rare and slow-growing type of neck and head cancer. He posted his experiences with cancer on Facebook and also urged his friends to donate money to research efforts of the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation. The cancer returned in the year 2018 and he passed away at residence located in Mansfield, Connecticut, on February 21, 2019, nearly a decade after the diagnosis.
