Benjamin Rafael Julia is
the son of Raul Julia, and wife Merel Poloway.
The father of Benjamin Rafael was an actor from the country of Puerto Rican actor.
He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico Benjamin Rafael began his interest in acting while at school, and then pursued a career after finishing his studies.
Benjamin’s mom Merel performs as an actress famous for her roles in The Baby That’s You (1983), American Masters (1985) as well as The 47th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards (1995).
Benjamin Rafael Julia is the second child of Raul Julia and his wife Merel Poloway. His birth date was 1987. The exact date and location of his birth are not known. He has a brother named Raul the Sigmund Julia. Benjamin Rafael’s father was practicing for an Off Broadway show and met Merel Poloway. He formed an acquaintance with her, and they got married in the year 1976.
The couple was together until the passing of Benjamin’s dad in the year 1994. The couple was together for almost 18 years.
Rafael Julia’s uncle, Rafa, died in an accident in a car when his father was only 18 years old. A majority of their relatives were musicians and included his great-grand Aunt Maria Gonzalez, whom his father claimed was the main source of his creative career. Julia was a member of the Julia Family was Catholic.
In 1964 the year that his father Benjamin Rafael Julia turned 24 an old man, Julia made the trip in 1964 to New York, arriving in the middle of the winter storm. When he moved into Manhattan, Julia had to work odd jobs to help pay his expenses, even going through the process of getting a course on how to market pens to distributors. When Hurst came to visit him, they both went to the same Broadway production and the realization that he could be an actor for a full time. In the wake from this experience, Raul began seeking employment in both Broadway as well as “Off-Broadway” productions. To further enhance his acting abilities, he enrolled in classes with Wynn Handman who was recommended by Bean His class was also attended by the future co-star Christopher Walken.
The father of Benjamin Rafael Julia’s first performance was in the production of Pedro Calderon of Barca’s Life Is a Dream, in which he portrayed Astolfo. He was able to get the Actors Equity card from the Actors Equity Association. In the beginning, Julia received an allowance from his parents. However, after signing a contract with Jeff Hunter as manager, the actor was able to participate in a production that was based on “Bye Bye Birdie” and he refused to accept any further donations. He began to perform in Phoebe Brand’s theatre mobile that performed plays in the disadvantaged neighborhoods in New York. In 1965, he married Vasallo Molinelli. They divorced later in 1969. He then got married the daughter of Benjamin Richard Julia’s Poloway.
In the absence of public awareness the father of Benjamin Rafael Julia was battling stomach cancer over three years prior his death . He had undergone surgery. In the early part of 1994, while production in The Burning Season in Mexico the actor was ill after eating sushi. He was airlifted to the health facility located at Los Angeles so he could receive medical treatment, recover and then returned to Mexico for the final film. He was losing pounds and had become physically deficient due to his illness.
On the 16th of October, 1994 Julia as well as Poloway went to an evening at Metropolitan Opera in New York Then, shortly after Benjamin Rafael Julia’s dad started experiencing abdominal pain and was transported via ambulance North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Long Island. At initially, he did not seem to be concerned about his condition and was seen rereading the script for his part as Desperado in his hospital bed, however his condition began to deteriorate. The night of October 20th Benjamin Rafael Julia’s father was struck by an injury to his brain, fell into a coma and was placed to life support. A few days later on the 24th of October 1994, he died at 54 years old due to complications of the stroke. He not regained consciousness.
