I’ve been an iPhone user for over 5 years I have compiled a list of tips and tricks for iMessage which have helped me navigate my phone each day with pleasure and ease. These tips could be helpful for you too.

1. Screen Effects and Message Bubbles

Certain messages have special effects on the screen when you write them. The effects of messages correspond to the content of the message and include balloons, lasers, shooting stars, to confetti and fireworks.

Screen effects can be initiated by simply typing codes within the messages. Different words cause different screen effects. Be sure to avoid adding any other text to the message. This trick works only by typing the code word only.

  • Congratulations/Selamat- Rain of Confetti
  • Happy New Year! Rush of Fireworks
  • Happy Chinese New Year – Red and Gold Explosions

Another method of initiating effects on the screen is to press the send button following typing the message.

iMessage also comes with messages with bubble effects like Invisible ink and slam soft and loud.

  • The invisible ink of the bubble is covered with blur and makes animated noise.
  • Slam causes the entire screen to make a ripple.
  • Loud causes a giant shaking bubble effect.
  • Gentle creates a small bubble that dissolves.

iMessage also includes a number of effects on the screen, including balloons and celebrations, confetti, and many more.

2. Mention a Friend’s name in Group Chat

It’s now much easier to direct messages to a particular individual in chats with a group. Make sure that they read and understand your message. The process is easy.

Enter the name of the contact and then the message. iMessage will identify the contact and show you a pop-up with their name as well as a contact photo. Click the pop-up to name them.

3. Move Cursor

This is a fantastic trick to text with just one hand. Because it can be difficult to reach the letters at the other side of the keyboard when using one hand, you can move your keyboard to the either the left or right.

  • Tap and hold the globe or emoji icon in the left bottom.
  • Choose the left or right key depending on which hand you’re together.

8. Dictate Your Message

It’s possible to simplify your life by saying the text you’d like to type instead of typing it. There’s a microphone on the right side on your keyboard. Press it to start talking. The phone will write your message. Talk about making time!

9. Handwritten Message

Although it is not widely used writing messages in handwriting is a great method to give an individual touch while reliving those memories. For a handwritten note:

  • Turn your phone around and switch the phone to landscape.
  • Tap the Handwriting icon on your keyboard.
  • Make your note with either your Apple pencil or one of your fingers.
  • Tap Done then Send.
