This is where he met Mary Brunner, Valentine Michael Manson’s mother. She was a librarian assistant.
Charles convinced his wife to invite friends to their home while they were still together. Most of them were young women attracted to the idea of the hippie lifestyle.
Mary became pregnant while traveling across the United States Southwest. However, Charles’s hateful attitude towards his family for taking him to the hospital resulted in Valentine being born in Topanga Canyon where the family was living in a poor house. After seeing Valentine’s mother and others in the group naked inside a bus, police arrested them. They were later released. Valentine was in poor health when police arrived and took him away.

His ability to manipulate people was well-known. He used sex often as a means of gaining favors or recruiting new followers.

However, it was claimed that Charles Manson was behind the murder and used his anonymity to hide his family’s actions. Sharon Tete, a pregnant actress, was also murdered. Charles’ family was arrested by police and went on a rampage with protest. Mary Brunner, who was involved in a shooting in Hawthorne in California, was also sentenced.

Valentine sought to clarify that his parents were his grandparents. He refused to be associated with his father’s legacy, and destroyed any letters his father sent him from prison. However, he kept his mother informed.
