Google Pay is the most popular app for sending and receiving payments via UPI. Google Pay can sometimes be problematic for some users. Users often have problems with payment processing. When the user attempts to send the payment to another Gpay user, it gets stuck.

Let’s see why sometimes these payments are stuck.

Online payments are stuck.

Online payments can get stuck for many reasons. Below are some of the reasons why online payments can’t be processed.

Bank Server Downtime

A bank server goes down during a downtime. Each bank has its own downtimes. This is when the payment is initiated by the user, but it remains in “Payment Processing” for a lengthy time.

You can either plan or not have downtime. When there are holidays in the bank, or on weekends, planned timings will be. When the bank closes, the server of the bank will usually be down. This is when payments fail or become stuck.

Unplanned downtime occurs when there are errors.

Incorrect data

Incorrect data is the second reason for stuck payments or failed payments. Incorrect data could cause transactions to be denied. This is where the problem lies.

If you enter an incorrect OTP, you’ll be redirected and shown an error message saying that your transaction couldn’t be authorised. Click on “resend OTP” to get the OTP again.

You may not receive an OTP. You will need to click on “resend OTP” in this instance.

Other errors include:

  • Bad connection

  • Security concerns

  • Transaction amount exceeded prepaid account balance

  • A bank might have noticed a risk

  • Account blacklisted

You can now cancel processing payments or pending payments in Google Pay.

How do I cancel processing payments in Google Pay?

If you attempt to make a payment but it shows ‘processing/pending’ you can’t cancel it.

The app will notify you if the payment is still in processing. It will take 3 to 5 business days for the payment to be marked as pending.

It is also possible to receive payment notification that has been cancelled.

You will need to file a dispute if this is the case. You can do this directly via the Google Pay app.

Google Pay allows you to check the status of pending transactions. You can check the following steps to verify your Gpay pending transaction.

How do I check the status of a Google Pay transaction?

Step 1

Open the Google Play App on your smartphone

Step 2

Scroll down to “show transaction history”

Step 3

The transaction history will be displayed.

Step 4

You can report an issue if you see a status still pending. Click on “Raise a dispute” to report the issue

You may see another status than the payment as a ‘failed’.

The question now is how do you get a refund in the event that your payment was not received?

Here are some things you can do.

If your payment is not received, there are no worries. Refunds will be made to the bank account. After the payment is declined, it will take approximately 5-7 business days for your refund to be credited into your bank account.

Keep these things in mind, if you find yourself in any of the following situations:

  • For at least 48 hours, do not attempt to pay more than one beneficiary.

  • A transaction that is in ‘payment processing’ status cannot be cancelled.

Are you wondering why we must wait 48 hours to make another payment?

This is because the payment can only be processed within 48 hours. If the payment is processed, it means that your beneficiary has received the money. If not, your beneficiary will not have received the funds.
